Valorization of Indonesian Wood Wastes through Pyrolysis: A Review

نویسندگان

چکیده

The wood processing industry produces a significant amount of waste. Biomass valorization through pyrolysis has the potential to increase added value wastes. Pyrolysis is an important thermochemical process that can produce solid, liquid, and gas products. This paper aims review wastes from Indonesia, including teak (Tectona grandis), meranti (Shorea sp.), sengon (Paraserianthes falcataria (L) Nielsen), rubberwood (Hevea brasiliensis). based on in-depth study reliable literatures, statistical data government agencies, direct field observations. results showed could be suitable Currently, slow most feasible for with main product charcoal. efficiency increased by harvesting also liquid gaseous use in form charcoal needs developed diversified. Charcoal not only used fuel purposes but as soil improvement agent.

Valorization of municipal solid wastes through biogas production in Iran

Iran is a developing country with a population of over 80 million. The total daily MSWs production in Iran is about 50 million kg. Most of the MSWs in this country is being disposed of in the landfills. Some of the landfills are located in the urban area or near to sea, river, and forest. In this regard, the management of MSWS becomes a concern in Iran. One solution to manage MSWs and mitigate ...

Valorization of Beer Brewing Wastes by Composting

The aim of this work was to study the viability of recycling the residual yeast and diatomaceous earth (RYDE) slurry generated by the beer brewing industry by composting with animal manures, as well as to evaluate the quality of the composts obtained. Two pilot composting trials were carried out with different mixes: cow manure/RYDE slurry (Pile CM) and sheep manure/RYDE slurry (Pile SM). For a...

Acetylation of wood – A review

Wood is a porous three dimensional, hydroscopic, viscoelastic, anisotropic bio-polymer composite composed of an interconnecting matrix of cellulose, hemicelluloses and lignin with minor amounts of inorganic elements and organic extractives. Some, but not all, of the cell wall polymer hydroxyl groups are accessible to moisture and these accessible hydroxyls form hydrogen bonds with water. As the...

A Review on the Valorization of Macroalgal Wastes for Biomethane Production

The increased use of terrestrial crops for biofuel production and the associated environmental, social and ethical issues have led to a search for alternative biomass materials. Terrestrial crops offer excellent biogas recovery, but compete directly with food production, requiring farmland, fresh water and fertilizers. Using marine macroalgae for the production of biogas circumvents these probl...
